Wasteland.com announces the release of their latest movie, a ripped-from-the-headlines short film entitled “Sex Addiction In The Viral Age – A Corona Virus Film,” starring Sicilia Ricci and co-starring studio head and director Colin Rowntree. Ricci and Rowntree also collaborated on the script.

In “Sex Addiction In The Viral Age – A Corona Virus Film,” a sex-addicted female epidemiologist working on a COVID-19 pandemic becomes anxious, then aroused, about the state-mandated “social distancing” protocols.

Ricci plays Dr. Sarah Connor, a scientist with a Ph.D. in public health who works as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. Sarah’s sex life is voracious and she engages a variety of random IRL sex partners to satiate her sex addiction.

Now stuck like everyone else at home, staring at a screen in an endless cycle of Slack messages, SMSs, DMs and video screens-within-the-screen, Sarah decides to also take her sex life online.

Her strategy: while on cam, do as the cam girls do.

Director Rowntree explained to Playboy that he was filled with indignation by the cavalier attitude of some in the adult industry who attempted to hijack the coronavirus conversation without respecting the most elementary public health measures.

“People started uploading generic porno scenes, extremely low-budget stuff, featuring ‘actors’ wearing surgical masks and gloves, and not respecting social distancing,” Rowntree, who has decades of experience as an adult filmmaker specializing in BDSM, told Flores via email. “They hashtagged the content #COVID19 to attract attention, but nobody reflected on how coronavirus could actually affect adult performers and directors.”

Rowntree said that he reached out to Ricci, a regular Wasteland player, and the two of them crafted the script for “Sex Addiction in the Viral Age (A Coronavirus Film),” remotely, in only a few hours, using a shared Google Doc.

Rowntree also directed the film remotely, via Skype, from his cozy New Hampshire home. Ricci’s OnlyFans videographer, who served as DP, then Dropboxed the files to the director, who edited the short and achieved final cut in only five days.

More than a film. Rowntree told Flores, this is his manifesto. “XXX filmmakers have to understand that they can make ‘message movies’ respecting social distancing. Not everything has to be the usual gonzo garbage,” Rowntree harangued.
