The PorYes European Feminist Porn Award has nominated 5 filmmakers and photographers in 2015 for their lifetime of work in sexually explicit cinema/photography.
Jennifer Lyon Bell, of the explicit erotic film company Blue Artichoke Films, in Amsterdam, is one of the five nominees. She writes/directs/produces “erotic film for people who like film,” and is dedicated to creating artistic, unusual erotic films that portray sexuality in an emotionally realistic way.
Jennifer is delighted to be nominated. The organizers asked her if she would film a short video regarding her nomination and the importance of the European Feminist Porn Award.
The award ceremony will be held October 17, 2015 at the Hackesche Höfe Kino in Berlin. Short video compilations of all the nominees’ work will be shown on the big screen. Jennifer’s fellow 2015 nominees are erotic luminaries Buck Angel (USA), Jiz Lee (USA) Gala Vanting (AUS), and Goodyn Green (DE), who will all be present. Following the award ceremony – which sells out every year – there will be an Afterparty open to the public at the Sophienclub in Berlin. Additional PorYes events include a PorYes panel with all five nominees the next day at Urania Cultural Center, and a clips presentation and discussion by Jiz Lee and Buck Angel on Monday night at Humbolt Universität.

EXPLICIT INTIMACY: SEX AS THE NEW FRONTIER IN FILM Erotic cinema, especially erotic cinema that incorporates explicit imagery into sex scenes, is nearly completely quarantined in the indie film world. For example, out of more than 8000 film festivals and screening events on FilmFreeway, only 25 mention that they accept erotic subject material. Not even half of 1%! Yet there’s a lush underground of ground-breaking modern erotic film which is aesthetically challenging, full of sexual diversity, and a hugely refreshing break from the clichés of sex and gender that pervade mainstream lovescenes just as much as they pervade the “adult” industry’s images. In this presentation, I screen several clips from the luminaries of this genre, and aim to highlight just what riches the festivals, video platforms, distribution channels are missing out on. What we will learn: 1. There are brilliant explicit erotic films out there that most people have never seen. 2. These films have educational and emancipatory value for our society. 3. We all can help break down this harmful artificial barrier between “sex film” and “real film” via practical tactics I can share. Like this presentation idea?
